Illinois is home to the first peer-reviewed journal to advance global approaches and methods for studying the medieval past. At the same time, faculty in our program are very actively involved as editors and editorial board members for many other academic periodicals.

The Medieval Globe

 The Medieval Globe explores the modes of communication, materials of exchange, and myriad interconnections among regions, communities, and individuals in an era central to human history. Its is published twice yearly: a miscellaneous issue showcasing recent scholarship and a larger, thematic issue bringing together the work of many experts around a shared topic. Thematic issues are also republished as indexed volumes in The Medieval Globe Books Series.

The mark of The Medieval Globe is comprised of elements derived from six medieval cosmologies.
